You Remind Me of Someone - Day 55
Look in the mirror and tell me what you see. We look alike, but you’re already better than me.
— Pierre

G Baby,

What up big fella? It's Dahdah again. Thanks for taking it a little easier on us the last couple of nights. Keep it up, brotha.

I never really thought of likeness as an amazing concept, but it is becoming increasingly interesting to Daddy. I've been told I look like this or that person, but rarely saw a resemblance. “You and your sister look just like”, someone would tell me. My response, “I don't see it”. But I look at you and boom, your likeness to mommy and daddy is shockingly obvious. And I'm not just talking to about appearance. Let me explain.

So to set the scene, you're a few days from being the big 2M. That's right, none of that week to week aging round here. Why complicate it? But I digress. Your 2 months old and very much still a baby baby. Your neck is gaining strength, but control is far from grasped. You cry to indicate only one of 4 needs, hungry, burpee, diapee, sleepy. And boobs are your top 2 favorite things in the world.

At such a young age, Daddy did not expect to see drastic similarities between you, mommy, and I. “It will take time for my clone to develop”, I thought. I am secretly still waiting on a good bit of development because right now you look just like your mother 65% of the time. That's a really good thing because she's beautiful, but Daddy did talk a little trash about having dominant genes. Don't let me down.

It's truly uncanny. You look like me, or your mom, or an awkward blended face of both of us 100% of the time. Your mood determines who you resemble most. Angry, sad, or sleepy, you are Daddy's miniature. But you give Mommy vibes when you're happy, laughing, or surprised. I'm quite the optimist, so why I get the mugs and grimaces is a mystery. I mean someone has literally called Mommy a “dark cloud” before, but I get sad face?!

Anyway, what continues to surprise me is how our likenesses are already transcending appearance. For instance, when you're hungry, your bottom lip pokes out to make a sourpuss. Your dietary based melancholy is my facial expression to the letter. Likewise, you've copied the face I have after a satisfying meal as well, a bit of the world is perfect mixed with it's my secret to tell. I have a copyright on that. You smile with your eyes, just like Daddy does. But when you laugh, you throw your head back like mommy. You smirk more than smile when you're pleased. That's a mommy original. You even sleep with you hands above your head when exhaustion has won the day. She won't like this, but there is hilarious photographic evidence of this.

How, at 2Ms, are you duplicating sleeping positions? According to the baby books, you can barely see. How is it that you share our facial expressions? Are emotional cues hereditary? Here's hoping you only pull the best things from us and none of the more challenging attributes of our character. Though, we will love you to pieces either way. Stay Golden, Ponyboy.

Love,

Daddah
