Endgame - Day 333
End of an era g,
11 years son! That’s how long Daddy has been a spectator of the “marvel” that is the Marvel Cinematic Universe. 22 movies, 48 hours (2886 minutes), $20 billion and counting, and 21 Stan Lee cameos (#RIPStan) have culminated perfectly this weekend. The Infinity Saga has finally concluded, and I couldn’t be happier with the finale. I cannot wait to share this with you when you’re a little older. Such epic adventures deserve to be passed down through the generations. But I'll wait until then, so no need to be concerned about spoilers.
It’s rare in this day and age to see a series come to a graceful and conclusive end. The entertainment industry is just so money hungry. It always has been. There's a never say die attitude to things that have garnered a certain level of success. The people in charge lose sight of the vision of the story, focusing only on revenue. They chase the money down the rabbit hole, and we the viewers suffer. Plans are hastily changed or thrown out the window completely. That is the established norm within the industry.
But the Infinity Saga was different. Yes, they did make literally tons of money, 11 tons to be exact. That's 400,000 lbs for comparison. Check this visual out. However, after watching Endgame, it's clear that the people in charge had an established plan. There was an ending from the beginning. Making another ton or two of money would not influence them to extend what was never intended to be extended. I'm looking at you Jigsaw.
My point here is that good things come to an end, and sometimes they should. Except love, love never ends. But our favorite book and TV series will have a last page/episode. Our favorite musicians catalog will eventually stop growing. Our favorite shirt will go out of style, at least for 20 years or so. The jobs we have will someday end. Even life comes to an end. And all of that is perfectly okay because...
"In every ending is a new beginning." -Marianne Williamson
That may sound hella corny, but it's true. Goods thing end, but that doesn't mean it's the end of all good things. Many times something better is waiting for the current thing to end. That doesn't mean you rush to the finish though. You should end things eloquently, and that only requires intentionality. It doesn't happen by accident. Beautiful endings come from proper planning and a focused vision. Don't let things drag themselves out around you. They will eventually drag you down with them. Set an end goal and plan to it. That is the way to the next good thing and an incredible Endgame.
Here is an another adage or two for the road, since I haven't used enough already. Failure to plan is planning to fail. When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. Life is for living. And Daddys and Mommys are always right.
I love you baby boy,
Dahdah
