I get it now. Your daddy understands what all the hype is about. I had my first extended period of holding you tonight, and it was one of the most powerful experiences I have ever had. I will never forget this moment for as long as I live.
Holding you in my arms changed me; it enhanced my emotional awareness. I experienced feelings I hadn't been able to fully appreciate before you arrived. The closest I’ve come to these new vibes are with each of my nephews. I love your cousins with all my heart, but knowing I helped make you added another layer to the experience. I provided half of your chromosomes. There is this well of love and affection in my heart that I had yet to tap into. Frankly, I didn’t realize it was there until I held you in my arms for the first time.
NO MATTER WHAT, I will love you to my last breath and beyond. If we have an argument, I will still love you. If you cause me heartache, I will still love you. If you destroy my possessions, things I have obtained, I will still love you. There is no mountain high enough, no valley low enough, no river wide enough to keep my love from you. Please don’t take this as an invitation to be a delinquent. My love will be shown through discipline as well as hugs and laughs. I hope you can find it in your heart to reciprocate the love I have for you, even if you may not fully understand until you have a child of your own.

You can believe that without feeling any pressure because I will be with you every step of the way, providing endless solicited (and unsolicited) advice. There will never be a topic you cannot bring to me. We may not agree, but we can certainly discuss any and everything you have on your mind or in your heart.
